Some people also seem to forget this too, so just a note that if you already own Guild Wars and have the first or second game installed, you can pretty much throw away the Nightfall disks as all you need to do is add the key to your account.

On a somewhat related note- 2 and a half days until Nightfall !

I gather from what you are saying is you just enter the key and it will automatically install the files for you.I will admit I am one of those who only has a cd rewriter no dvd rewriter as I never really planned on doing anything with a DvD on my Computer although a new system is on the horizon for next year.

So, if it ships on DVD-ROM, it logically must contain more than 700MB, right? Or they'd ship it on CD-ROM? CDs are ever so 90s anyways, but if we're stuck in the past, can I be stuck in the 70s? That'll be 1400 8-inch floppies, please.

Just echoing the rest, Just key in your key if you dont have a DvD rom and load the game, you can even do it while you sleep at the main log in screen if you have a slower connection.

Essentially, as time goes by, games will require higher specifications to run and enjoy. Though in a MMO concept of allowing even lower specifications to have access of the game, upgrading of technology is often inevitable if GW were to try to compete with other games that "looks" more graphically appealing as well.

Dear ANet,

Could I have my CE copy of NF on 5 1/4" floppys please [SSSD preferably], I realize that you'll have to charge extra for the seeveral pounds of disks, but what-the-heck, I'm a traditionalist at heart! Besides, it might be fun to to sit at the computer for a few days swapping out 2482 disks.

BTW guys, this thread was priceless!

it is unfortunate that these corporations dont listen and are only concerned with money. the only way to make them change their ways is to be vocal about our concerns. to demand equal treatment for all consumers. not just the ones with DVD drives.

many will find my views rigid and maybe a bit silly. but the fact remains...if you let corporations take just a little of your rights away, they will take all of them away.

it is unfortunate that these people dont listen and are only concerned with what is easy for them. the only way to make them see the light is to be patient with our explanations. to show them that the standard edition of the game has cds, so people like you can install the game too. not just the ones with DVD drives.

I fail to see the problem with putting the game on a DVD.

Welcome to 2006.

GW should come in CD and DVD formats. it is up to the people puching their product to cater to the needs of the user.
I want the 1458 floppy disk version please.

Well I understand their drama, but use the key and D/L the files. Also it's been stated for months on the GuildWars website that CE is on DVD.

Its not rare to find games or data thesedays on DVD, time to shill out 20 dollars or less for a DVD drive. Embrace the future.

Just.. download the files?

If you have Broadband, you don't even need a disk. It would probably make everything more complex anyway. If you already have Factions or Prophecies, you may not know this, but you ALREADY HAVE Nightfall on your computer.

Guild Wars is the last game in the world to complain about the disk not able to be read. Imagine one of those games that REQUIRES the disk in the drive, like Battle for Middle Earth II? UGH to that I say!

Actually only one 5 1/4" floppy would be needed as it could auto load a simple HTML redirect page to the GW website and auto download the entire GW client.

After all doesn’t the BOX say Internet connection required?

What’s on that DVD anyways since all you need is less than 1 MB to accomplish the task?

I smell a conspiracy....

If i see another post flamming the fact the the Op doesn't have a DvD drive i am going to go insane.

If you allready have a guild wars client on your system all you have to do is put your key in at the login screen under Add a new key.
as many people have allready said but most seem to ignore, you pay for an account not a client. so for the last time if you can't run the nightfall client off dvd DOWNLOAD IT HERE----> Guild Wars Offical Website

here is your new and fresh "code it yourself" version, a book with only 1+ million pages, simply input all the code before you play :P

soooooo, if guildwars chapter 10+ comes out you still want to have 5+ cd's?
